Local Missions

United Methodist Men

This ministry has one major fund raiser in January of each year.  The Spaghetti Dinner is a tradition at Stonybrook.  The funds earned at this event are disbursed to outreach projects related to Stonybrook.  All men of the church are encouraged to help with this event by cooking, serving, setting up, cleaning up, or running the dishwasher

United Methodist Women

The UMW is a unique group of Christian women who share Christ’s love through many ministries for women, children and families. Our projects include “little dresses for Africa, sewing kits for Haiti and providing tools for the Community Development for all People. You are invited to visit either of our two circles or join us for one of our informative general gatherings. This group also provides opportunities for spiritual growth, education, and fellowship.

Each year in May we have one service, and then are sent out into our community to serve. We partner with Gahanna Jefferson City Schools, Gahanna Parks and Rec, and other organizations to better Gahanna. On this day we also assist individual home owners on projects that they are unable to do. What better way to be the hands and feet of Jesus! Join us this year when we Change the World for Christ.

Prison Ministries

Bill Glass Beyond the walls

Bill Glass BEHIND THE WALLS is a Dallas-based ministry, started by former NFL player Bill Glass. With a dedicated staff and volunteers numbering in the thousands, the ministry is known for its high-energy Day of Champions and Weekend of Champions events conducted inside prisons across the country. Bill says a board member kept badgering him to take his message into prison. “I kept resisting. I was frightened that I wouldn’t fit in with street kids and gangsters in prison.” After overcoming his fears, he saw dramatic results. “I was thrown into it kicking and screaming, but the response from the inmates was just unbelievable,” he said. Changing Hearts, Transforming Lives, Impacting the World

During the initial Kairos weekend, Kairos volunteers serve as God’s instrument through which His love, grace and mercy are expressed to the participants/guests in a real and profound way. God begins changing hearts.

Following their weekend experience, participants/guests are encouraged to take responsibility for their life choices and their relations with God; they are invited to engage in small accountability groups. Kairos volunteers continue to return monthly to provide mentoring and guidance through these accountability groups. It is here that Kairos participants/guests begin to replace old ways of thinking with new and they learn they are not alone on this journey. They realize there is a hope for a future. The prison environment begins to change; family relationships start to heal…..God is transforming lives.

As the Kairos community inside a prison grows and begins to gain influence, the incidences of violence decreases. Incarcerated participants who are released re-enter the outside world with a God centered, perspective and focus on becoming productive citizens. Female family members find support, strength and encouragement. Youthful offenders acquire new God centered values and change their direction in life. Families are reunited with a hope for the future.
